stranded

Let me introduce Oniqueh Giles.

When I was a kid, I used to listen to a book on cassette called Tikki Tikki Tembo.  Although it is now considered politically incorrect, I loved that book and can still recite Tikki’s full name — Tikki Tikki Tembo-no Sa Rembo-chari Bari Ruchi-pip Peri Pembo.  It’s a fable about why Chinese people have short names now.  I won’t spoil it for you, however.

Anyway, I kept thinking about Tikki after I learned of Oniqueh’s (pronounced “O-knee-kuh”) full name.  Born of religious hippies (her words, not mine), her parents wanted a name that would be unique…hence, Oniqueh.  Which, if you look closely, is “unique” with the letters scrambled a little.  But it gets better.  Are you ready for this?  Have a seat, this could take a while.  Her full name is Ynajiah Oniqueh Sharay Giles.  Her friends simply call her “Neek” for reasons which should be obvious.

Oniqueh is the Brand Ambassador at Benovia Winery in Santa Rosa.  She is one of eight kids in her family, but I only know her brother, Tosh.  She is incredibly nice, funny, and, it turns out, a great model.
